3) John Welty, b. 1787, Lauenberg, Canton Basel, Switzerland  m. Christina Gerber in 1815, soon thereafter bought the farm of his uncle Jacob Welty in Bagischwand, Lauperswyl, Emmental, Obt. Barus, Canton Bern, Switzerland.   . 

4) John Welty, b. 1817, Bagischwand, Lauperswyl, Emmental, Canton Bern, Switzerland.  m. Maria Gerber in 1834.  Emigrated to USA in 1846 with his children, settling in Putnam County, Ohio (near Bluffton). d. May 25, 1898 survived by 12 children, 84 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren. 

5) Frederick Lewis Gottlieb Welty, b. May 12, 1838, Lauperswyl, Canton Bern, Switzerland.  Emigrated to the USA at age 6 with his parents.  m. Elizabeth Steiner, June 1, 1865, Kent County, Michigan, d. June 13, 1921, Pandora, Ohio.

6) Reuben David Welty, b. Feb. 18, 1869, Kent County, Michigan.  m. Carrie Beltz, 1897 Reno County, Kansas.  d. 1948?, Enid, Oklahoma.

This information up to G7 is from the "Descendants of Ulrich Welty" book by Samuel Baumgartner, with minor corrections noted by my grandmother. The Baumgartner book was written by a nephew of Fredrick G5, in 1926.**

**Thanks much to the extensive and excellent efforts of Richard Welty and Peter Wälti, we now know that there were a couple of major mistakes in Baumgartner’s book.  A summary and explanation of the mistakes and corrected info can be found at Richard Welty’s website:  http://www.rpwelty.com/ .   Meanwhile, we combined the info from that website and Peter Wälti’s website (http://www.pwaelti.com/gedcom-1/default.htm) and have come up with a revised pedigree as shown below.

 

1) Peter Wälti Peter was born before 1645.  Peter's father is AAA Lauperswil Wälti.  His paternal grandfather is AAAA Emmental Wälti. He had twenty-four brothers named Jacob, Hans, Ulrich, Christen, Hans, Ulrich, Christen, Bendicht, Peter, Peter, Jost, Peter, Peter, Peter, Ulrich, Peter, Hans, Peter, Peter, Hans, Hans, Hans, Ulrich and Niklaus.  He was the nineth oldest of the twenty-five children.  He died on December 25th, 1727 in Lauperswil/Blindenbach.1   Peter Wälti married Madlena Leuenberger in a religious ceremony on November 27th, 1668 in Lützelflüh.1   They had a son and two daughters, named Peter, Elsbeth and Anna.

2) Peter Wälti Peter was born before February 28th, 1679 in Blindenbach and his baptism took place on February 28th, 1679 in Lauperswil.1 2   Peter's father was Peter Wälti and his mother was Madlena Leuenberger.  His paternal grandfather is AAA Lauperswil Wälti. He had two sisters named Elsbeth and Anna.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died about May 22nd, 1746.   Peter Wälti married Elsbeth Lüthi in a religious ceremony on June 19th, 1705 in Signau.1   They had two sons and three daughters, named Peter, Christen, Madlen, Cathrina and Elsbeth.

3) Peter Wälti Peter was born on August 8th, 1707.1   Peter's father was Peter Wälti and his mother was Elsbeth Lüthi.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Wälti and Madlena Leuenberger. He had a brother and three sisters, named Christen, Madlen, Cathrina and Elsbeth.  He is the second oldest of the five children.  Peter Wälti married Christina Brechbühl in a religious ceremony on February 9th, 1742 in Lauperswil.1   They had five sons and a daughter, named Christen, Peter, Hans, Ulrich, Peter and Anna.  Peter Wälti later married a second time, to Anna Kähr. Peter and Anna were married in a religious ceremony on June 15th, 1755 in Burgdorf.1   They had four sons and a daughter, named Peter, Samuel, Niclaus, David and Anna.

4) Niclaus Wälti Niclaus was born on January 13th, 1764 and his baptism took place on January 13th, 1764 in Vechigen.1 2   Niclaus' father is Peter Wälti and his mother was Anna Kähr.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Wälti and Elsbeth Lüthi. He had three brothers and a sister, named Peter, Samuel, David and Anna.  He was the fourth oldest of the five children. He had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named Christen, Peter, Hans, Ulrich, Peter and Anna.  He died at the age of 70 on March 23rd, 1834.3  Niclaus Wälti married Christina Badertscher were married in a religious ceremony on May 19th, 1786 in Rüderswil.1   They had three sons and two daughters, named Peter, Hans, Christen, Anna and Barbara.
